The trailer, released on 20/7, features most key characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the villain Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. In the trailer, Thor directly battles Doom and reunites with Captain America.
Doctor Doom's warning opens the preview, forcing the superheroes to make their most difficult choice yet. Simultaneously, Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) witnesses an Incursion – two universes colliding with the risk of mutual destruction. This concept was previously mentioned in films like Loki and Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The trailer then shows viewers New Avengers Tower, where superhero teams Avengers, New Avengers (from the film Thunderbolts), and Fantastic Four assemble to plan their resistance against Doctor Doom. Thor reveals he has witnessed Doom's overwhelming power before.
The footage also reveals several major battles. Namor and the Atlanteans break their peace agreement with Wakanda, before Wakandan superheroes ally with the Avengers and Fantastic Four. They then enter the X-Men's world, encountering mutants like Gambit, Mystique, and Cyclops. The trailer also features appearances by Loki and Cassie Lang, concluding with the return of Steve Rogers/Captain America.

This project continues the multiverse storyline the MCU has been building for seven years since Avengers: Endgame (2019), while paving the way for the Secret Wars installment, set for release next year. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo – who helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame – will continue to direct both projects.
After concluding his role as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU, this time portraying the villain Doctor Doom. The studio has not yet revealed the character's origin, but it is likely a variant of Tony Stark from another universe. Doom previously made a brief appearance in the post-credits scene of Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The cast features many familiar MCU faces, including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, and Winston Duke. Actors associated with 20th Century Fox's X-Men series, such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer, and Channing Tatum, are also included.
Before releasing the trailer, Disney launched four teasers alongside screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash in late 2025 and earlier this year. These videos revealed Chris Evans' return as Captain America, introduced Thor and his adopted daughter Love, featured mutants Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops, and showed Black Panther, Namor, M'Baku, and Thing appearing together in Wakanda.
