On the morning of 17/3 in TP HCM, Minh Thu and her crew held a groundbreaking ceremony for a web film. This social psychological drama tells the story of a girl's challenging life. She conceived the script in 2019, but production plans halted due to Covid-19. Over the years, she filmed music videos for her YouTube channel, receiving positive audience support. Many messaged her on social media, recalling roles that cemented her fame, such as Hanh in "Gai Nhay" and Nhung in "Lay Vo Sai Gon". "The fact that audiences still love and care is a huge motivation for me to return to the screen and rekindle my passion," Minh Thu stated.
Over the past six months, she flew from the US to TP HCM three times for casting and team meetings. Minh Thu explained she could not dedicate herself full-time to the project in Vietnam because her mother and daughter reside in the US. She also self-funded the investment, without sponsors. Minh Thu received support from the cast and director, who even reduced their fees to help.
The actress is not prioritizing capital recovery, viewing this as a project marking her return to Vietnamese cinema. This time, Minh Thu will stay in Vietnam for one month to complete filming "Tinh Mot Dem" before returning to the US to continue her singing career.

She expressed satisfaction with her current life, as her 17-year-old daughter, Bao Ngoc, is independent. She faces few difficulties as a single mother, thanks to financial support from her ex-husband for raising their child. Her singing income and rental income from several houses in TP HCM are sufficient to cover her living expenses in the US. Daily, Minh Thu drives her daughter to school, extracurricular clubs, or goes shopping. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, traveling, and gathering with friends.
Over the years, several people have expressed interest in pursuing a relationship with Minh Thu. However, she has not found a suitable partner for a long-term relationship, choosing to remain single. "Sometimes I feel lonely, but I quickly set those feelings aside to enjoy my time with my daughter and mother," she remarked.
Minh Thu was born in TP HCM and joined the Kim Quy dance troupe in 1992. In 1995, she ventured into acting with a lead role in "Chan Troi Noi Ay". That same year, she won the Miss Cinema award. In 2004, Minh Thu gained attention for her role as Hanh, a prostitute, in director Le Hoang's film "Gai Nhay". Her other films include: "Lo Lem He Pho", "Lay Vo Sai Gon", "Chuong Reo La Ban", and "Bi Mat Chon Vui". Beyond acting, Minh Thu also pursued a singing career, formerly leading the band Sac Mau. In 2004, she met and fell in love with a boyfriend six years her junior, originally from Hai Phong. In 2012, they separated. She raised her daughter, Bao Ngoc, alone. In late 2013, the actress moved to the US with her daughter for her daughter's studies.
