According to records from the California Superior Court in the US, the couple mutually agreed to divorce in July 2025 after two years of separation, citing "irreconcilable differences." The two artists married in 1994 and have three daughters.

Previously, the couple maintained a private life. Their last joint public appearance was at Tuan Ngoc's birthday party in the US in 2020. Before that, they occasionally returned to Vietnam to perform together in various tea room concerts. Tuan Ngoc has often expressed gratitude for his wife's support of his singing career.

Singer Thai Thao, 65, and Tuan Ngoc, 78, were both born in Da Lat and settled in the US after 1975. She is the daughter of musician Pham Duy and singer Thai Hang. After her marriage, she stopped singing. Tuan Ngoc, whose real name is La Anh Tuan, is the son of artist Lu Lien, and his siblings are all renowned singers.

In 2006, Tuan Ngoc returned to Vietnam to perform for the first time after living abroad. In 2019, he became a coach on The Voice Vietnam, subsequently traveling frequently to participate in various shows.
