Valentin Tran, President of Miss Universe Vietnam, was present with fans to provide encouragement to Huong Giang before the important competition night. "Having followed Huong Giang for over two weeks at the competition, I feel reassured and somewhat proud of her performances. I hope Huong Giang advances far, so that the name Vietnam resonates on stage as many times as possible", he said.
Over the past three weeks, Huong Giang drew attention from domestic and international media as the only transgender contestant in this season. She arrived in Thailand in late October and quickly joined the competition. In the latest rankings by Missosology, beauty experts ranked Huong Giang 18th. Before the final, Huong Giang entered the top three for the Beyond the Crown category (Meaningful Social Project).
The 74th season of Miss Universe, themed 'Beyond the Crown' - More than just a crown, began in early November. However, controversies regarding organization and internal leadership conflicts within the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) led audiences to perceive the competition as unprofessional. Many contestants withdrew due to poor health or personal reasons. Currently, 120 beauties are continuing their journey to conquer the crown. Miss Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark will crown her successor in the final, on the morning of 21/11, broadcast exclusively on FPT Play.
Miss Universe, first held in 1952, is one of the most-watched beauty pageants globally, with 165 countries and territories purchasing broadcast rights.
In recent years, the competition changed many rules, aiming for diversity, honoring not only external beauty but also women's courage and healthy lifestyles. Since 2023, the Miss Universe Organization has accepted married women and mothers as contestants.
