The Unity sculpture was inaugurated by Almaty city authorities in Kazakhstan on 22/3, drawing a large crowd, according to culture and art website Kursiv LifeStyle. Its installation, which began on 18/3, also garnered significant social media attention. Organizers estimated the story's media reach could exceed 500 million global impressions.
Kazakhstan contemporary artist Yerbocyn Meldibekov created the artwork, which depicts the moment a group of people linked hands to rescue a dog that had fallen into Sayran Reservoir a decade ago. Faced with a steep concrete wall, passersby formed a human chain to lift the animal to safety.

A representative for the project initiators stated the sculpture was conceived to embody solidarity and mutual support. It features figures linked in a single chain, symbolizing collective strength.
The video documenting the original rescue went viral in 2016, garnering approximately 15 million views on the Daily Mail's fanpage and an additional 6,5 million across other platforms. Global comments lauded the act as profoundly humanitarian, highlighting how human willingness to help can overcome any adversity.
