Vietnamese designers Vu Ngoc and Son chose Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District as the backdrop for their latest collection, "Serenade on the Waves." The show, filmed against the stunning Victoria Harbor, features 36 outfits that blend traditional Vietnamese aesthetics with modern urban influences, drawing inspiration from the vibrant cityscape and cultural fusion of Hong Kong.
The collection, scheduled for broadcast early next year, highlights the designers' signature style of vibrant colors and bold patterns. Models Huynh Tu Anh and Huu Long opened the show in layered wool outfits, evoking the gentle movement of waves, a central theme of the collection. The fashion house incorporated images of street signs, taxis, and buses into the visual narrative to convey Hong Kong's dynamic modern urban life.

The designers featured grapefruit blossom motifs, symbolizing spring, on dresses using printing, hand embroidery, and artisanal embellishments. The collection showcased diverse silhouettes, including oversized pieces, coats, capes, and garments with voluminous skirts and sleeves. Key materials included brocade, velvet, and taffeta, presented in a vibrant palette of red, emerald green, and yellow.

Vu Ngoc and Son also explored a "play" with wool, aiming to honor artisanal craftsmanship. The material was layered, creating movement reminiscent of water waves. Furthermore, 3D pattern making and layering techniques created visual effects for viewers.

The motif of a pair of horses was a highlight in the patterns, suited for the new year atmosphere, symbolizing completeness and prosperity. Images on the dresses were stylized in a pop art fashion, creating a youthful feel. The designers also presented several ao dai designs suitable for Tet Binh Ngo.
