Hong Kong actress Vuong To Hien, 59, recently revealed her past battle with depression and her journey to finding peace. Speaking at a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) seminar in California, US, on 5/1, she shared that during her career peak, she felt unhappy and was diagnosed with depression. Her life transformed after she embraced Buddhism and TCM, which helped her overcome negative thoughts and insecurity, bringing her a sense of calm.

Vuong To Hien now prefers her current lifestyle over her acting career, which she said previously led to an irregular routine. After filming "Shanghai Story" in 2004, she decided to retire from acting and moved to Canada. She views this as a timely departure, allowing her to preserve fond memories with her audience.
She currently focuses on cultivating inner peace, prioritizing her health, and enriching her spiritual life. In Canada, she opened a moxibustion shop, a traditional therapy involving burning dried mugwort on specific body points. She stated this endeavor will be her lifelong work.

Vuong To Hien entered the film industry at 17, quickly earning the moniker "jade girl" for her pure beauty and classic elegance. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she was a leading Hong Kong star, achieving fame across Asia with films such as: "A Chinese Ghost Story", "Green Snake", "The Eagle Shooting Heroes", "The Reincarnation of Golden Lotus", and "God of Gamblers".

In the 1990s, her "jade girl" image faced scrutiny when her relationship with wealthy, married businessman Lam Kien Nhac became public.
According to Appledaily, Lam Kien Nhac reportedly showered Vuong To Hien with gifts, including a villa on Kotewall Road valued at 13 million HKD (38,5 billion dong). Their relationship concluded in 1996, with reports suggesting Lam had become involved with another actress.
