On the evening of 15/8, officials from the Tay Ninh Department of Health reported that the boy was admitted to Tay Ninh General Hospital. Four days later, he developed acute pneumonia and his health declined rapidly. Despite receiving prescribed medication, his condition did not improve. He was being transferred to a hospital with more advanced capabilities when he died en route.

The cause of death is currently under investigation.

The boy's family visited the hospital on the afternoon of 15/8, after funeral arrangements were made, to request clarification on the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Department of Health has requested the hospital to establish a specialized medical board to review the case. If necessary, the Department will then form a provincial-level medical board to conduct an objective assessment, determine the cause of death, inform the family, and decide on further action.
