Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi, former president of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the first director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented at the closing ceremony of the 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference, co-organized by the Ministry of Health and the Asian Hospital Management Association, on the evening of 11/9.
This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to healthcare in the region, as acknowledged by the Ministry of Health and the Asian Hospital Management Association.

Born in 1934 in Thanh Hoa, Professor Hoi graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1960. He served as president of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy from 1993 to 2007. He is renowned as an administrator, educator, and physician.
Throughout his career, Professor Hoi supervised 23 doctoral dissertations, 9 specialist level II certifications, and 12 master's theses, along with numerous specialist level I and residency theses. He also edited 10 textbooks and five monographs, led multiple state-level and ministry-level research projects, and published over 70 scientific reports.
In addition, Professor Hoi chaired the university's Scientific and Technical Council, headed the Hepatobiliary Surgery Center at the Specialized Medical Center, and presided over many medical and pharmaceutical conferences both domestically and internationally.
He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the development of surgery in Vietnam, including the Second-Class Medal of Resistance against America in 1985, the 40-Year Party Membership Badge, the Second-Class Labor Order in 2002 and 2009, the title of People's Teacher in 1996, the Science, Technology, and Creative Award in 2006, and the Ton That Tung Award in 2004.
The 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference in 2025 attracted over 1,500 delegates from more than 30 countries. Attendees included speakers, administrators, leading hospital directors from the region, and renowned global healthcare solution providers.
The conference aimed to provide hospital owners, CEOs, directors, doctors, and other healthcare leaders with insights into healthcare management thinking, patient safety and experience, healthcare worker experience, best practices, and solutions from around the world. It also served as a platform for networking within Asia.
