Calorie control: Jennifer Lopez's secret to staying fit at 55

Singer Jennifer Lopez maintains her toned physique thanks to a disciplined diet, starting her day with a 90-calorie breakfast and saying no to caffeine.

Many experts and celebrities believe that maintaining a fit physique is a lifestyle, requiring discipline in both diet and exercise. At 55, Jennifer Lopez, nicknamed J. Lo, exemplifies this with her toned figure. In a conversation with US Weekly, the singer shared her approach to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. "You have to work out and pay attention to what you eat. It’s a job, you really have to be serious about it," J. Lo said.

In a 2021 interview with Hello! magazine, she shared, "What you eat doesn’t just affect your body; it can also affect your skin."

For J. Lo, calorie control is one of the most important factors in staying fit. In a 2019 US Weekly interview, she revealed her preference for a low-calorie breakfast. She typically starts her day with a 90-calorie chocolate shake made with quinoa milk or water.

While she still enjoys coffee, she always opts for decaf. For many years, the singer and actress has avoided caffeine. Previously, J. Lo rarely consumed alcohol, but in a 2023 Instagram post, she admitted to occasionally enjoying a cocktail to relax.

"I drink in moderation, not to get drunk. I drink when socializing, to have fun and unwind a bit, but I always know my limits," J. Lo affirmed.

J. Lo's lunch is always colorful, featuring salmon and a salad with various vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, and zucchini, drizzled with vinaigrette. Meanwhile, dinner is typically a protein-rich dish such as Puerto Rican-style pork or chicken served with quinoa. "It feels like rice and beans, things I grew up with. I try to have dinner with the kids around 6:30 p.m.," she said.

According to Dodd Romero, J. Lo's personal trainer, in addition to a healthy diet, she also focuses on staying hydrated. "She drinks at least 7 glasses of water a day and always starts her morning with a glass of fresh lemon water," Romero said. The singer rarely eats processed foods, prioritizing natural foods like vegetables, nuts, and healthy starches from sweet potatoes, oats, and quinoa.

Jennifer Lopez was born in New York, USA. She entered the entertainment industry as a member of the Fly Girl dance troupe on the comedy show In Living Color in 1991. She is famous for hits like On The Floor and Ain't Your Mama. She has also starred in films such as The Mother (2023), Shotgun Wedding (2022), and Marry Me (2022).

Before Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony, Lopez was married twice, first to model Ojani Noa and then to dancer Cris Judd.
