The victim, thrown 4 meters by a vehicle, was rushed to the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center on 7/9. Dr. Ly Bao Duy from Binh Dan Hospital, who was on rotation at the center, found the patient with a rapid pulse, low blood pressure, multiple abrasions, and severe abdominal pain, particularly on the left side.
A CT scan revealed injuries to the left kidney, spleen, and pancreas. Doctors at the medical center consulted online with Professor Tran Vinh Hung, Director of Binh Dan Hospital. They determined the patient's condition was too critical for transport to the mainland, necessitating a liver and pancreas specialist to be sent to Con Dao.
Dr. Nguyen Ta Quyet, Head of the Hepatobiliary Department at Binh Dan Hospital, was immediately flown to Con Dao and successfully treated the patient's internal injuries. The patient is now stable and receiving intensive care.
This is the first time the hospital has dispatched a specialist to Con Dao for emergency assistance.

Tang Chi Thuong, Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Health, praised the decision to send a specialist to Con Dao. This was the safest option for the patient, given the risk of internal bleeding and complications during a long transfer. Moreover, the Con Dao Medical Center is now equipped with an operating room and a blood bank.
Con Dao, formerly part of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, has received increased medical support since its incorporation into Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to improve healthcare and "leave no one behind." The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health launched a rotation program on 3/9, sending seven doctors from major city hospitals to work for one month at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center. The program now has enough doctors signed up to maintain continuous rotations until the end of 2026.
