Residents received free screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), treatment consultations, and general health advice. Local healthcare workers also received training on using AI in disease screening and management, marking a step forward in digital transformation at the grassroots healthcare level.
The event, held on 2/8, was organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association, the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, AstraZeneca Vietnam, and other partners. It is part of Bac Ninh province's Smart Healthcare Project for the period 2021-2030.
Smart healthcare reflects the Vietnamese healthcare sector's commitment to applying information and communication technology to improve the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of healthcare services. The goal is to build a modern, connected, intelligent, and more effective healthcare system that reduces errors and saves time and costs for both patients and the healthcare system.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan emphasized that the presence of agencies, organizations, partners, and residents demonstrated a strategic shift in healthcare: from treatment to healthcare, from passive to proactive, from fragmented to integrated - intelligent, comprehensive, and patient-centered. According to the Deputy Minister, this direction is also clearly reflected in the guidance of General Secretary To Lam: "Strive for every citizen to have a health check-up at least once a year".
The program also marks Bac Ninh's role in implementing the "Building Smart Healthcare, Focusing on Community Health 2021-2030" project. The project aims for a comprehensive digital transformation of the healthcare sector, ensuring equitable access to advanced healthcare services for all, especially at the grassroots level.
With AstraZeneca's partnership, key areas being implemented include: building a digital platform for national health data; managing NCD risks using AI; and reorienting the grassroots healthcare network towards a multi-functional, interconnected approach that prioritizes prevention over treatment.
The program is part of a series of community health initiatives directed by the Ministry of Health, with the support of AstraZeneca Vietnam, the Administration of Medical Examination and Treatment, and the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association. Notable initiatives include: "CareMe - Love Yourself": communication, screening, and management of NCDs such as hypertension and diabetes; and "Digital Transformation for Lung Health": applying technology and AI in the early detection of asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, and lung cancer in the community.
Another initiative is "Comprehensive Medical Access in Lung Health," which aims to develop the Ministry of Health's Lung Health Action Plan to raise awareness, promote screening and early detection, improve treatment effectiveness, and enhance overall lung health management in Vietnam.
