Myopia is becoming a silent epidemic of the 21st century. A study by the International Myopia Institute predicts that by 2050, half the world's population will be affected by this refractive error. Vietnam is no exception, as the rate of myopia among students is increasing.
On 23/8 and 24/8, the GOMCC & OVC 2025 international conference took place in Hanoi, attracting hundreds of domestic and international ophthalmologists, optometrists, and healthcare organizations. Sai Gon Eye Hospital (MSG) system - "Vietnam's largest private specialized eye hospital and clinic system" - participated as a co-sponsor and made its mark through various professional activities, contributing to the development of Vietnam's optometry field.

MSG introduced its comprehensive, specialized Myopia Control Center model at the conference, built on international standards and tested in Vietnam. The model emphasizes collaboration between ophthalmologists and optometrists, creating a synchronized myopia management system from screening and diagnosis to intervention and progress monitoring. Experts hope this model will be a new direction, improving myopia management effectiveness and developing the domestic optometry field.
The Myopia Control Center model is also how Sai Gon Eye Hospital fulfills its social responsibility by incorporating myopia control into school health programs. According to the hospital, this has long-term significance, helping Vietnamese children access standard ophthalmology services, reducing the burden of school myopia, and building a future of "clear vision - full life".
