After 5 days of intensive care, a surgical team led by Dr. Dinh Van Trieu, deputy head of the neurosurgery and spine department, performed surgery to realign and fix the sacral ala using a triangular plate and screws. This complex procedure, requiring specialized expertise, is typically performed only at central hospitals. Dr. Trieu explained that without intervention, the patient would have faced 6-8 weeks of immobility and a high risk of serious complications.
Thanks to the successful surgery, the patient was able to sit up after two days and walk again after 5. She has now made a full physical and mental recovery. Dr. Trieu stated that the hospital has mastered this technique, successfully performing it in approximately 10 cases. This offers local patients access to life-saving treatment and recovery without the need for transfer to other facilities.
