According to the agency's announcement on 7/8, the 250g "white sac hong moisturizing sunscreen whitening cream", bearing lot number DW010525, was produced by Khang Hung Thinh Trading and Service Limited Liability Company, supposedly located in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
The product's label did not list methylparaben and propylparaben, yet testing revealed their presence. These two preservatives are commonly used in cosmetics. Furthermore, the National Business Registration Portal indicates no company named Khang Hung Thinh Trading and Service Limited Liability Company exists at the given address.
The "Alpha 3 Plus + Arbutin Collagen Lotion", also in a 250g container, was labeled as originating from Thailand but lacked a lot number and information about the entity responsible for its distribution. Testing showed the product failed to meet quality standards for appearance and labeling requirements.
A search of the National Single Window Customs' cosmetics import declaration database reveals no record of a declaration for this product.
The samples were collected by the Testing Center of Tra Vinh Province's Department of Health from Thanh Van Shop in Tra Vinh Ward, Vinh Long Province.
To ensure consumer safety, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has ordered a nationwide recall and destruction of both products and an investigation into their origins. The Departments of Health in Vinh Long Province and Ho Chi Minh City are tasked with inspecting Thanh Van Shop and the alleged Khang Hung Thinh Company.
Recently, authorities have uncovered numerous violations at manufacturing and trading establishments, leading to the recall and destruction of many counterfeit and substandard drugs and cosmetics. In June, the Drug Administration conducted surprise inspections of 38 establishments, finding 17 in violation. Concurrently, 20 provinces and cities inspected 865 manufacturing, importing, and trading establishments, uncovering violations at 48.
