The Hanoi City Police confirmed the identity of the body as Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, 19, from Nghe An, to her father, Nguyen Van Ngoc, 48, on 8/12 after DNA test results matched family samples.
This confirmation comes nearly one month after the female body was found tied with tape, placed in a nylon bag, and left floating in a river flowing through Duc Hop commune, Hung Yen. The victim had a tattoo of "19-12-2006," matching Yen Nhi's birthday, along with other similar features.
"The family will travel to Hanoi soon to receive the official written results and work with investigators to complete legal procedures," Ngoc stated.

During the investigation, the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police arrested a male suspect. However, authorities have not yet released the suspect's identity or other related information. The victim's family does not know this individual.
Yen Nhi was the eldest child of Ngoc, residing in Quynh Mai ward, formerly part of Hoang Mai town, Nghe An province. After her parents' divorce, Nhi left school in 9th grade to help her family. She previously worked in Hanoi before joining an electronics company in Bac Ninh province. Two months ago, she quit her job to care for her sick grandmother and planned to apply for a position at an industrial park near her home.
According to her family, Nhi had a cheerful personality and showed no signs of sadness or conflict recently. On the afternoon of 2/11, two strangers came looking for her. Nhi met them and chatted for about 30 minutes. That evening, she told her family she would go to Hanoi to see a friend off who was traveling abroad. She left home at 14h30 on 3/11, carrying a few personal items.
On 4/11, Nhi called home from Hanoi, saying she would stay one more day. However, from 6/11, she could no longer be reached.

On the evening of 7/11, Nhi's sister received a text message, "I'll be home this afternoon," from Nhi's phone number. However, the family suspected the message was not written by her, and the phone subsequently went completely off. The family reported her missing to the police and posted a search notice.
Four days later, authorities announced the discovery of a body in a nylon bag with many similarities to Nhi. The family then provided DNA samples for forensic examination and awaited investigation results. In her hometown, a memorial altar has been set up for the young woman.
