Surveillance video captured the moment the former marine fought off a group of teenagers who reportedly approached him and pointed a gun at his face.
"I was very afraid for my life", Jheyco Borda said.
Video of the incident shared by Jheyco Borda on his personal Facebook.
Borda recounted that he was repairing his car on a street near his home in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on the afternoon of 3/6 when he saw a group of 6 teenagers, four males and two females, approaching him. One of them pointed a gun at his head, demanding his car keys, phone, and all valuables.
As the assailant moved closer, Borda seized the opportunity, firmly grabbing the suspect's hand, struggling to point the gun away from himself, and wrestling for control of the weapon. Seeing this, two other individuals fled, while one nervously circled the car.
Borda's brother ran out of the house to help fight off the attackers. In moments, the two brothers tackled the two teenagers to the ground and held them until police arrived to arrest the suspects.
According to Borda, the suspect's gun discharged during the struggle, with the bullet piercing his truck's bed. Fortunately, no one was hit.

Sharing how he managed to control the situation before it escalated, Borda said, "I just prepared myself, then adrenaline surged, and my prior training kicked in."
Borda, who served in the US Marine Corps, believes his hand-to-hand combat training provided him with the instincts and skills to subdue the gunman and save his own life.

Borda added that he anticipates it will cost about 2,000 USD to repair the bullet damage, and his insurance will not cover it.
The Prince George's County Police Department confirmed that two teenagers from the group were arrested, while the remaining four are under investigation in connection with the case.
