Nguyen Viet Long, 68, faces charges for producing counterfeit food additives after allegedly repackaging over one ton of unverified MSG into popular brand packaging for profit. On 30/1, the Economic Police Department of Hung Yen Provincial Police initiated legal proceedings against Long under Clause 1, Article 193 of the Penal Code.

Investigations revealed Long purchased 25 kg bags of MSG and nylon packaging bearing the AJINOMOTO brand from the market without proper invoices. He then repackaged the bulk MSG into smaller bags.

A search of his residence uncovered 551 one-kg packages and 457 454g packages of finished AJINOMOTO-branded MSG, totaling over 1,1 tons of counterfeit goods. Police also seized numerous tools, machinery, and packaging materials used in the operation.
