On 29/11, the People's Court of Area 1 - Ha Tinh sentenced Thang, 26, residing in Viet Xuyen commune, for property theft under Article 173 of the Penal Code.

In court, Thang expressed remorse, hoping for a reduced sentence to atone for his actions. The trial panel deemed his conduct serious, necessitating a strict sentence as a deterrent.

According to the indictment, at approximately 0:30 AM on 3/9/2025, Thang snuck into a resident's livestock farm in Vinh Cat hamlet, Toan Luu commune, formerly part of Thach Ha district, and stole 21 chickens.

Thang brought the chickens home, raising them in his backyard with the intention of gradually butchering them for food. Following the victim's report, Toan Luu Commune Police investigated and arrested Thang.

Authorities determined the 21 stolen chickens were valued at over 4,5 million VND.
