On 19/9, the People's Court of An Giang province tried 64 trainees, aged 20-40, who escaped from Drug Rehabilitation Facility No. 2 in 10/2025. Nguyen Van Si, 33 years old, received 3 years 3 months in prison for public disturbance.

The remaining defendants received sentences ranging from one year suspended to 5 years 6 months in prison for public disturbance, intentional injury, resisting public officials, and property theft.
Additionally, three individuals under 18 years old were separated into another case for processing according to regulations.
According to the indictment, at noon on 5/10/2025, Si led a group of about 60 trainees, inciting unrest. He then called others to gather and prepare stones and other items to resist officers.
When facility staff arrived to restore order, some trainees clashed, using stones and mop handles to attack officers, injuring one person by 12%. Si's group continued to incite trainees to break down room doors and fences, opening a path for hundreds to flood into the yard.
About 300 trainees gathered, shouted, and used sticks and stones to break the gate and leave the facility. While escaping, some trainees continued to shout, incite, and use sticks and stones to resist duty forces. Four officers were injured, with rates from 6% to 28%.
Besides causing public disturbance, Nguyen Hai Van and two other trainees also stole a motorbike from a resident to use as an escape vehicle.
By the morning of 6/10/2025, all escapees were returned to the facility.
