Quang Ninh Provincial Police announced on 2/6 that Pham Thuy Nga, 33, a resident of Cao Xanh ward, has been temporarily detained. She is being investigated for intentionally causing injury, an act that resulted in the death of her 11-year-old stepson.
Nga, a preschool teacher, had her employment contract with the school terminated following the incident.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 7h PM on 29/5. Angered by her husband's stepson, Nga repeatedly slapped and hit the boy's face and body.
The boy was rushed to Quang Ninh Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment. However, he died before being admitted. An examination revealed numerous bruises on his body.
Upon receiving the report, police launched an investigation. Their findings confirmed that Nga had abused the child.
Further inquiry revealed that after his parents' divorce, the boy had lived with his paternal uncle for a period. He had recently moved back to live with his father and stepmother in Cao Xanh ward.
