The tactics of a woman stealing jewelry from multiple gold shops

Released from prison, the 42-year-old woman committed two consecutive jewelry thefts worth hundreds of millions using the ruse of a customer.

An Dong Ward Police (formerly District 5) temporarily detained a 42-year-old woman on 16/1 for investigation into property theft.

Security camera footage shows the female suspect at the gold shop.

According to the investigation, yesterday afternoon, the woman, dressed in a jean jacket and helmet, approached a jewelry counter in the basement of An Dong Market. She feigned interest as a customer, continuously checking her phone.

When the shop owner was busy with another customer, she quickly grabbed a white gold bracelet valued at approximately 160 million VND and fled.

Upon receiving the report, investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified potential locations. By 6 p.m. that day, An Dong Ward Police, collaborating with the Criminal Police Department, raided a hotel in An Lac ward (formerly Binh Tan District), apprehending the suspect.

At the hotel, police recovered a gold necklace valued at approximately 120 million VND and over 130 million VND in cash. She confessed that the cash was from selling the jewelry stolen that morning and that she was preparing to return to her hometown in Da Nang.

She also confessed to committing a similar theft earlier that same morning at a gold shop in An Lac ward.

The investigation is ongoing.
