On 30/9/2024, Dang Thien Huong, 34, along with Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa and Le Huu Hoang, were arrested by the Economic Police Department (PC03) of Ho Chi Minh City Police. They are being investigated for violations related to the production and trading of counterfeit food products, a case involving Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan.
According to the investigation, Huong, owner of Nanotesla High-Tech Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company Limited, was identified as the primary supplier of weight loss products to Ngan 98. From August 2023 to July 2024, Huong allegedly produced over 100,000 weight loss products containing Sibutramine and Phenolphthalein for Ngan 98, illicitly gaining tens of billions of Vietnamese dong. Beyond Ngan 98, Huong also produced and sold these products to other individuals and businesses.
The investigating agency is continuing to clarify Ngan 98 and Huong's business activities involving weight loss products containing banned substances.

Ho Chi Minh City Police urge individuals and businesses who have bought or sold weight loss products with Ngan 98 or Huong to report to the investigating agency for consideration under regulations.
According to the police, Sibutramine is banned due to its risk of causing cardiovascular incidents and stroke. Phenolphthalein poses a cancer risk. Police recommend that people avoid buying or using weight loss products of unknown origin, especially "free gift" packets or capsules that lack labels and official declarations.
Previously, on 13/10/2025, Ho Chi Minh City Police initiated legal proceedings, indicted, and temporarily detained Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan (Ngan 98), who operates ZuBu Trading and Service Company Limited and the ZuBu shop business household. She is being investigated for the crime of producing and trading counterfeit food products.
The investigation revealed that since 2021, Ngan partnered with several factories in Hanoi to custom-manufacture weight loss health supplements. In addition to declared products, Ngan allegedly used a "free gift" scheme to introduce "Collagen vegetable capsules" under the Super Detox brand to the market. This product was found to contain Sibutramine and Phenolphthalein, substances not permitted for use in food.
