Two young men 'test positive for drugs', run checkpoint, hit traffic police officer

Driving a motorbike under the influence of drugs and alcohol, Bui Van Dat failed to obey orders, hitting and knocking down a traffic police lieutenant colonel.

Phu Tho Provincial Police are currently holding Bui Van Dat, 25, and Bui Manh Thang, 26, both residing in Hop Kim commune, for criminal investigation into related offenses.

At 2:54 PM on 6/6, traffic police team 5 was on duty on Provincial Road 12B, passing through Dung Tien commune, when officers spotted Dat and Thang riding a motorbike without helmets. Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thanh Tung signaled them to stop for inspection.

Authorities allege that Dat, who was driving, ignored the officer's command. He accelerated, hitting Lieutenant Colonel Tung directly and throwing him to the ground, causing swelling at the back of his head.

Police immediately apprehended the two suspects.

Quick test results revealed that both Dat and Thang tested positive for drugs (heroin). Furthermore, Dat was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
