During an argument, Dinh Thi Kim caused the death of her husband's aunt, who lived alone, using a wooden stick before removing her earrings and selling them for 2,5 million VND.

Three days prior, residents discovered Le Thi Phuong, 69 years old, dead at her home in Phuc Gia village, Tho Long commune. The cause of death was initially unknown, but the scene was disturbed, and the body had multiple injuries, leading authorities to suspect a murder.

Phuong, who was hearing-impaired, lived alone as her children worked far away. She reportedly had no recent conflicts with anyone in the area. However, her house was located near the riverbank with many entrances, and there were no witnesses at the time of the incident.

Following leads, police identified Kim as the suspect. Kim confessed that on the morning of 7/1, she visited Phuong's house, her husband's aunt. An argument escalated, leading to Phuong scolding Kim.

Kim stated she was hit with a wooden chair, prompting her to push Phuong down and retaliate. Upon realizing her aunt was dead, Kim removed Phuong's gold earrings and sold them for 2,5 million VND.

Authorities revealed that Kim attempted to conceal her involvement by attending the victim's funeral and acting as if nothing had happened, until her identity was exposed.
