The story of 25-year-old Zhu, a delivery driver in Bozhou City, Anhui Province, came to light through a social media video in late 7/2025. The video shows Zhu with her daughter, Nuoxi, safely nestled in an insulated box on the front of her electric scooter as she makes deliveries around the city.
In 12/2023, Nuoxi was diagnosed with a malignant abdominal tumor. Her medical expenses have reached 400,000 CNY. To cover these costs, both Zhu and her husband work as delivery drivers.
“There’s no one to watch her at home, so I have to take her with me," Zhu said. Her husband works a fixed delivery route for a stable income, while she takes on individual orders to better care for Nuoxi.
Zhu’s greatest challenge is delivering to buildings without elevators. “I have to carry my daughter in one arm and the deliveries in the other, climbing each flight of stairs. It feels like carrying a mountain on my back," she explained. “As long as my daughter is alive, it’s all worth it.”

After the story spread, the family received support from local authorities and numerous philanthropists. Zhu’s husband, Guan, said the government has helped them access support policies and welfare funds. Meituan, the food delivery company where they both work, has also provided financial assistance.

After Zhu suffered from heatstroke, Guan convinced her to stop working to focus on their daughter's care. He now shoulders all the family's financial responsibilities. Nuoxi’s health has stabilized, but she still requires regular check-ups.
“Our family is incredibly grateful for everyone's support. We've overcome the most difficult days, and we will never give up," Guan affirmed.
