Jenn Allan, a real estate agent in Delaware, began documenting her debt repayment journey on TikTok in October 2024. However, it wasn't until she consulted ChatGPT that her debt started to decrease rapidly.
In 2023, Allan's daughter required an extended hospital stay after birth. Allan experienced severe postpartum depression and had to stop working. The resulting financial strain led to $23,000 in credit card debt. In desperation, she turned to ChatGPT.
"I'm in credit card debt, not sure exactly how much, but I need to do something and I don't know where to start," Allan prompted the chatbot.
ChatGPT suggested creating a debt tracking spreadsheet in Google Sheets to list all her debts. Then, the chatbot outlined a 30-day plan, assigning a new task each day to help her tackle her debt step by step.
"Some of the ideas helped me make money immediately. More importantly, it kept me motivated and accountable every day," Allan said.

In addition to the 30-day plan, ChatGPT suggested side hustles to increase her income and provided budget-friendly recipes for home-cooked meals.
By diligently following this plan, the 35-year-old mother had paid off $12,000 by July 2025.
Allan isn't the only one using AI to escape debt. Another TikTok user, @budgeting.out.loud, shared her goal of paying off $26,503 of debt in 9 months with ChatGPT's assistance. She reported paying off over $2,000 with just a simple prompt.
"Becoming debt-free and financially independent is the dream. Doing it as quickly as possible is the goal," she said in a video.
