Traffic Police Team No. 5, Hanoi City Police, announced on 25/6 that they had issued an administrative violation record to a 35-year-old male driver from Phu Dong commune. The driver was cited for operating a car with illegally installed front lights.
The incident, which occurred around 22h on 22/6, involved the driver continuously flashing additional lights on his car's hood while on Phu Dong dike road, causing significant glare for oncoming vehicles. He later stopped to argue with another motorist.
According to the Traffic Police Department, unauthorized installation of lights not conforming to manufacturer specifications can cause glare, limiting visibility for oncoming road users and increasing accident risks, especially at night. Such electrical modifications also carry potential risks of short circuits and fires.
Authorities advise the public against arbitrarily altering vehicle structure or technical specifications and urge compliance with traffic regulations.
Under Decree 168/2024, drivers operating cars with illegally installed front, rear, roof, undercarriage, or side lights face fines ranging from 1-2 million VND and a deduction of two license points. Vehicle owners are also required to remove the unauthorized equipment and restore their vehicles to their original technical condition.
