10 biggest deals of the winter transfer window

The premier league dominated other leagues, accounting for six of the 10 largest transfers in the 1/2026 transfer window.

Jorgen Strand Larsen, from Wolves to Crystal Palace (59 million USD). This was the most expensive deal in Crystal Palace history. Larsen rose to prominence by scoring 13 goals for Celta Vigo in La Liga 2023-2024 and 14 goals for Wolves in the Premier League 2024-2025. The 25-year-old striker also scored four goals for the Norway national team, including one in the 4-1 victory over Italy in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Antoine Semenyo, from Bournemouth to Man City (85 million USD). Semenyo proved his value early in the winter transfer window. After joining on 9/1, the 26-year-old winger needed less than one month to score four goals and provide one assist. Previously, he had scored 32 goals and provided 13 assists in 110 appearances for Bournemouth.

Lucas Paqueta, from West Ham to Flamengo (50 million USD). Paqueta returned to his former club in Brazil for a South American football transfer record fee. The 28-year-old midfielder left Europe after seven years of playing continuously for AC Milan, Lyon, and West Ham. He was close to joining Man City in 2023 until he was investigated for potential illegal betting. He was cleared of all charges in 7/2025 but was no longer at an ideal age to sign with major clubs.

Conor Gallagher, from Atletico to Tottenham (47 million USD). Gallagher's adventure in Spain ended after one and a half seasons. Since the start of this season, coach Diego Simeone has primarily used the English midfielder as a substitute. Atletico accepted a three million loss compared to when they signed Gallagher from Chelsea in 2024.

Brennan Johnson, from Tottenham to Crystal Palace (47 million USD). Johnson never met expectations at Tottenham after his 65 million transfer from Nottingham in 2023. Even after scoring the decisive goal in the 2025 Europa League final, the 24-year-old striker could not compete with Richarlison and Dominic Solanke. His four goals this season even lag behind two defenders, Van de Ven (7) and Cristian Romero (6), and midfielder Joao Palhinha (5). The move to Crystal Palace offered an escape.

Ademola Lookman, from Atalanta to Atletico (47 million USD). Lookman was the most expensive player to join La Liga in the winter transfer window. The Nigerian forward was involved in 82 goals in 137 appearances for Atalanta, also contributing to their 2024 Europa League triumph. He nearly joined Inter in summer 2025 and Fenerbahce in 1/2026.

Oscar Bobb, from Man City to Fulham (37 million USD). With 47 appearances over two and a half seasons, Bobb's playing opportunities at Man City were limited. The 22-year-old Norwegian international decided to move to Fulham to increase his playing time. Fulham also has high expectations for the midfielder, who developed under coach Pep Guardiola. The 37 million USD deal is the third most expensive signing in the club's history.

Kader Meite, from Rennes to Al Hilal (36 million USD). Meite is a product of the Rennes academy, which has produced talents like Ousmane Dembele, Eduardo Camavinga, and Desire Doue. The 18-year-old French youth international has played professionally for one and a half seasons, scoring five goals in 32 matches. He made his Saudi Pro League debut when Al Hilal drew 0-0 with Al Ahli on 2/2.

George Ilenikhena, from Monaco to Al Ittihad (39 million USD). After transferring from Antwerp, Belgium in summer 2024 for 21 million, Ilenikhena struggled to establish himself, scoring only nine goals in 52 appearances. However, on the last day of the recent transfer window, the 19-year-old striker brought a significant profit to Monaco. Al Ittihad signed Ilenikhena to replace Karim Benzema, who had moved to Al Hilal on a free transfer.

Taty Castellanos, from Lazio to West Ham (34 million USD). West Ham currently ranks 18th out of 20 in the Premier League, 6 points behind the 17th-placed team. They signed Castellanos to improve their attack and boost their chances of avoiding relegation. Castellanos gained prominence by scoring four goals in Girona's 4-2 victory over Real in 2023. For Lazio, the 27-year-old Argentine striker scored 22 goals in 98 appearances. After joining West Ham, he quickly made an impact with the decisive goal in the 2-1 FA Cup third-round win against QPR on 11/1.
