The match at St. James' Park unfolded in dramatic fashion. Liverpool took a 2-0 lead and had a one-man advantage after Anthony Gordon received a straight red card late in the first half. However, despite being a man down, Newcastle rallied with goals from Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula to level the score.
The climax arrived in the 10th minute of stoppage time. Mohamed Salah delivered a cross from the right wing, Dominik Szoboszlai let the ball run through his legs, and Ngumoha, surging from behind, struck a first-time shot that left goalkeeper Nick Pope rooted to the spot, sealing a breathtaking 3-2 win for Liverpool.
At 16 years and 361 days old, Ngumoha became the fourth-youngest scorer in Premier League history, after Wayne Rooney (16 years and 360 days), James Milner (16 years and 356 days), and James Vaughan (16 years and 270 days). However, Ngumoha is the second-youngest 16-year-old to score a winning goal in the Premier League, after Rooney's goal for Everton against Arsenal in October 2002.
