51,000 participate in race marking 75 years of banking sector

The State Bank of Vietnam launched an online running race, "75 years of Vietnam Banking", on 3/5, with participants' achievements expected to contribute 7 billion dong to social welfare initiatives.

The event, part of a series of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the banking sector (6/5/1951 – 6/5/2026), attracted 51,000 participants from 51 teams. This number symbolically represents 1951, the founding year of the National Bank of Vietnam, now the State Bank of Vietnam. According to Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dung, the race marks a new journey for the sector, embodying not just numerical achievements but also the will, spirit, and solidarity of the entire industry as the nation enters a new era.

Beyond physical well-being, the program connects participants with community responsibility, showcasing the banking sector's role in supporting remote and disadvantaged areas, policy beneficiaries, and those facing difficulties. Athletes' achievements will be converted into contributions totaling up to 7.5 billion dong for social welfare activities.

This entirely online race utilizes the Strava application for participants to record their outdoor running or walking results. Data is automatically synchronized and publicly displayed in real-time. Athletes have the flexibility to choose their own time and location, ensuring transparency and accuracy in performance tracking.
