The Wimbledon grass-court Grand Slam begins on 29/6 and concludes on 12/7, clashing with the World Cup's knockout rounds. The tournament in North America will run until the final on 19/7.
Players and spectators at Wimbledon will find their ability to watch national teams compete in the biggest football event limited. For many years, Wimbledon organizers, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), have banned broadcasting World Cup and Euro matches within the complex.
Many players in the tournament are football fans, including Francesca Jones. Britain's number four female tennis player is an ardent Manchester United fan who regularly follows the sport. The World Cup also offers the 26-year-old athlete a chance to connect with her family.

"If England plays in the evening, I will ask to play the first or second match of the day", Jones told The Telegraph on 24/6. "I have actually sent a request to the organizers. The most important thing is to watch the match with my father".
"I don't get many chances to sit with him", the 25-year-old player added. "I really enjoy watching football. Normally, I usually sit alone on the sofa watching by myself on weekends. It would be wonderful to sit next to my father and enjoy an England match together".
Despite Thomas Tuchel's team drawing 0-0 against Ghana, The Three Lions remain well-positioned to advance with four points after two group stage matches at the 2026 World Cup. If planned, England will play their round of 16 match on 5/7, coinciding with Wimbledon's third round.
Though she has never advanced far at her home Grand Slam, Jones gained confidence after passing the first round of Roland Garros in May. The player, born in 2000, ranks 103rd globally, a drop of almost 40 spots since 2/2026.
