Just 20 days after becoming the youngest player in history to complete a career grand slam at the Australia Open, Alcaraz secured another convincing victory in Doha. These consecutive championships dispel any lingering doubts about Alcaraz's ability to maintain his peak performance following a significant coaching staff change during the late 2025 transition period.
From the outset of the final against Fils, Alcaraz controlled the match, showcasing comprehensive offense and defense backed by impressive physical conditioning. Fils attempted to engage in baseline rallies but was powerless against his superior opponent. Alcaraz hit 18 winners compared to Fils's three, winning 89% of his first serve points – nearly double his opponent's 45%.

The 22-year-old extended his winning streak to 12 matches after a performance that earned him a rare 9,7 points from Infosys, a score seldom seen in an ATP match. This title marks Alcaraz's ninth ATP 500 trophy, bringing him level with former world number one Andy Murray.
The Spanish player now ranks joint 4th among those with the most ATP 500 titles since the system was introduced in 2009. The top three are Roger Federer with 16 titles, Rafael Nadal with 15, and Novak Djokovic with 14.
By reaching an ATP Tour final for the first time since winning in Tokyo in 2024, Fils climbed seven spots to number 33 in the rankings as he continues his comeback from a back injury. The former world number 14 will compete next week at the ATP 500 Dubai.
The final in Doha was the first encounter between the two players since Alcaraz secured two consecutive clay court victories over Fils in 2025. Their first hard court meeting followed a similar pattern. Alcaraz extended his outdoor hard court winning streak to 30 matches, which includes grand slam titles at the Australia Open 2026 and the US Open 2025.
