Milner debuted in the Premier League for Leeds on 10/11/2002. One month later, at just 16 years and 356 days old, he set a record as the youngest player to score in the Premier League. This record was broken by James Vaughan in 2005, who scored at 16 years and 270 days old.
In 2004, Milner joined Newcastle. He played three seasons at St James' Park and spent one season on loan at Aston Villa. In 2008, he returned to Aston Villa for an additional two seasons.
In 2010, Milner transferred to Man City for 35 million USD. He contributed to winning two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup, and one FA Community Shield.
In 2015, Milner moved to Liverpool on a free transfer. He secured another Premier League title, the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. Milner also holds the record for the most assists in a single Champions League season, with 9 assists in the 2017-2018 season.
In 2023, Milner made a free transfer to Brighton on a one-year contract. He subsequently extended his contract for two more years. In Brighton's 2-1 victory over Man City on 31/8/2025, he scored against his former team, becoming the second oldest player to score in the Premier League at 39 years and 239 days old. This achievement is only surpassed by Teddy Sheringham, who scored at 40 years and 268 days old.
Milner played 61 matches for the England national team from 2009 to 2016, scoring one goal. He participated in the World Cup in 2010 and 2014, and the Euros in 2012 and 2016.
