In an interview with Bola on 15/9, Corretja, one of the most successful tennis players in Spanish history with 17 titles, described Alcaraz as a gift from God to the sport.
Corretja found Alcaraz's meteoric rise at the age of 22 miraculous. "He has a Grand Slam title, is currently world number one, and emerged right after Nadal's departure," he said. "It happened so suddenly and left us stunned. It's fortunate for us and for Spain."

Currently a tennis analyst and commentator for various Spanish media outlets, Corretja has closely followed Alcaraz's professional journey. He believes Alcaraz's success stems from a combination of talent, ambition, and hard work.
"I think we must truly appreciate what Alcaraz has accomplished," added the two-time French Open finalist. "Winning six Grand Slams at 22 is practically unimaginable and incredibly difficult. Alcaraz is so young and has the potential to achieve much more. Above all, he is humble, down-to-earth, and generous. He truly is a unique individual."
With Alcaraz and Sinner having shared the last eight Grand Slam titles between them, Corretja predicts the pair will continue their rivalry, pushing each other to even greater heights. Holding six Grand Slam titles among his 23 total, Alcaraz is the most successful 22-year-old Spanish tennis player, surpassing his predecessor, Nadal. Historically, only the legendary Bjorn Borg won seven Grand Slams before turning 23. Alcaraz has the opportunity to match this feat if he wins the Australian Open next year.
"I believe Alcaraz can achieve numerous feats and records," Corretja predicted. "He has a long career ahead, and no one can predict the future. But Alcaraz is doing all the right things, with a great team and a supportive family environment. It's hard to doubt his potential for success in the coming years."
