"I won't change the philosophy," Amorim said after the loss at Etihad. "If you want to change, change the person. I'll play my way until I decide to change. I understand these questions, and I accept this isn't a result worthy of Man Utd. But a lot has happened in the past few months that people aren't fully aware of."

In the Manchester derby on 14/9, Man Utd dominated possession with 55%, but their play was stagnant. In the first 70 minutes, the "Red Devils" conceded three goals: a header from Phil Foden and a brace from Erling Haaland. The visitors showed some improvement in the final 10 minutes, but Bryan Mbeumo and substitute Casemiro missed clear chances in front of an open goal.
"The performance today wasn't good," Amorim admitted. "In crucial moments, they were better than us. I'm trying to be rational. I see the statistics, I understand the disappointment, and I understand the decisions that might follow. I accept the criticism. That's all."
Many Man Utd fans at Etihad left before the final whistle, disappointed with the performance. When asked what message he had for these fans, Amorim replied: "My message is that I will do everything, always thinking what's best for the club. As long as I'm here, I'll do my best. The rest is not my decision. I'm suffering more than the fans."
This marks Man Utd's third defeat of the season, including two in the Premier League and a shock loss to fourth-tier club Grimsby Town in the League Cup.
Since replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, Amorim has led Man Utd to just 31 points in 31 matches – the worst record among teams consistently present in the Premier League during the same period.
Amorim's win percentage is the lowest for a Man Utd manager since World War II. Among those who have managed Man Utd for at least 20 matches in the top flight, only Alfred Albut (20%) and Scott Duncan (24%) have lower win percentages than Amorim (26% with 8 wins in 31 matches).
The "Red Devils'" attack has also significantly declined, failing to score in 13 of 31 matches and scoring only 36 goals in total. Amorim has also won only 4 of 26 Premier League matches against non-newly promoted teams. Away from home, Man Utd has won just one of their last 20 matches against the "Big Six," conceding 53 goals.
On 20/9, Man Utd return to Old Trafford to host reigning Club World Cup and Conference League champions Chelsea.
