"One day before the deal was finalized, I had talks with Bayern," Antony told Cadena Cope on 2/9. "But by then, the deal with Betis was 95% done, and I insisted on keeping my promise. I did it out of respect, out of love, and because I knew I was very happy here."

On the final day of the summer transfer window, Betis completed the permanent signing of Antony from Man Utd for a fee of $29 million. According to ESPN, Bayern made a late bid and offered an annual salary of $8.1 million—almost double Betis’s offer—but Antony chose to return to the Spanish club.
The Brazilian forward stated, "I feel very at peace with this decision. I don't know what will happen in the future, but right now I am completely satisfied."
Antony was considered a hero during his loan spell at Betis in the latter half of the 2024-2025 season. The Brazilian scored 9 goals in 26 matches, helping Betis finish 6th in La Liga and reach the Conference League final, where they lost 4-1 to Chelsea.
However, upon returning to Old Trafford, Antony was again excluded from the first team by manager Ruben Amorim, missed the pre-season tour, and was placed on the transfer list.
"More than 5 clubs contacted me, but I always said my number one choice was Betis," the 25-year-old striker emphasized. "Betis, for me, is emotional; it's where I found myself. Every day that passes, I become more certain that returning here was the best decision of my life."
During his presentation at the Abades Triana restaurant on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Antony was moved to tears as he faced hundreds of fans and club officials. He admitted to enduring over 40 stressful days waiting in a Manchester hotel, but his patience and belief led to this special day.
Antony affirmed that Betis is capable of competing in both La Liga and the Europa League, while also setting his sights on the 2026 World Cup with the Brazilian national team. "Being called back to the national team is an important step," he expressed. "I always set high standards for myself and want to become an even better Antony. The World Cup is a big dream, and I will do my best to be there."
President Angel Haro praised Antony as one of the club's most important signings. "The nickname Antonio de Triana, given to you by the fans, is a testament to the connection and love. We believe Antony will bring many glorious nights to Betis," he said.
