Arsenal suffers defeat in the fifth minute of added time

Arsenal conceded a goal in the final minute of injury time, losing 1-2 to Aston Villa in the opening match of Premier League round 15.

Following a cross from the right wing, the home players relentlessly challenged and attempted shots, preventing Arsenal from clearing the ball. Amidst the scramble, Emiliano Buendia swiftly struck a right-footed shot into the far corner from close range, leaving David Raya with no chance.

This goal, scored at 94 minutes and three seconds, marks the second latest goal conceded by Arsenal leading to a Premier League defeat since the 2006-2007 season. Only a match against Brighton in June 2020 (94 minutes and 26 seconds) saw a later decisive goal. Buendia is also the first player to score a 90th-minute winning goal against Arsenal in the Premier League since Rodri did so for Man City in January 2022.
