The Vietnam delegation's competition day on 30/9 is set to begin early, with 5 golf athletes entering the first round of individual events at 4h30. The women's sepaktakraw team had a favorable start, defeating India 2-0 in the match held on the morning of 30/9, with set scores of 15-7 and 15-8 respectively. Vietnam's lineup included captain Nguyen Thi My, Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Yen, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, with Hoang Thi Thu Thao and Le Ngoc Tuyet as substitutes.

Following this victory, the Vietnamese women's sepaktakraw team will return to compete at 15h, facing Thailand. This is a notable confrontation because Vietnam is the defending champion in the women's 4-person event, while Thailand has consistently been a powerhouse in the sport.

Also in the morning, three shooters - Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, and Nguyen Dinh Thanh - will compete in the qualifying round of the men's 25 m rapid fire pistol event, starting at 7h40.

Wrestling will begin at 8h30, with Dang Thi Linh competing in the women's 68 kg freestyle event. The schedule for this event includes direct elimination rounds, repechage rounds, followed by the final at 16h.

Judo also has a packed schedule. At 9h, Ha Ngoc Chi will face an Indian opponent in the women's 48 kg category, while Lam Thi Ngan Ha will meet an athlete from Nepal in the women's 52 kg category. These two weight categories are expected to reach the semifinals at 11h20, with the finals taking place at 15h20 for the 48 kg category and 16h20 for the 52 kg category, respectively.

Boxing is also a highlight of the day, with two Vietnamese boxers reaching the semifinals. Nguyen Thi Tam will face a Kazakhstani boxer in the women's 51 kg category at 11h15, while Luu Diem Quynh will go against a Chinese opponent in the women's 75 kg category at 12h. Their advancement guarantees at least two bronze medals for Vietnam.

30/9 could continue to bring medals for the Vietnam delegation if athletes overcome crucial rounds in judo, wrestling, and boxing. Notably, the judo and wrestling finals will take place in the afternoon, alongside the women's sepaktakraw match against Thailand at 15h.

Before this competition day, Vietnam had secured two gold medals, one silver, and 17 bronze medals, totaling 20 medals at ASIAD 2026 and ranking 20th in the overall standings.

On 29/9, Vietnam won its second gold medal at the Games in the women's sepaktakraw doubles event. Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly, Le Thi Hong Lien, and Nguyen Thi Thu Trang defeated the Philippines in the final. This marked Vietnam's second gold medal, following their victory in the women's team karate kata event.

Xuan Binh
