In the 38th minute of the V-League 2025-2026 second-round match on the evening of 24/8 at Go Dau Stadium, the refereeing team stopped the game to address the reactions of the visiting team. The fourth official, Tran Ngoc Nho, called the main referee, Le Vu Linh, to discuss the situation and locate assistant coach Viegas for a penalty.

However, Viegas had retreated to the locker room after arguing with the referee. He had already received a yellow card in the 33rd minute for dissent.
Two CAHN assistants went to the locker room to persuade Viegas to return to the field, but were unsuccessful. Under new regulations, if an assistant coach is absent when a penalty is to be given, the head coach must receive it instead.
Consequently, after Viegas refused to reappear, Polking approached the referee and accepted the yellow card. The post-match report indicated that Viegas received a yellow card in the 33rd minute, while Polking received one in the 38th minute. Had Viegas not fled, he would have received a red card (two yellow cards).

Viegas is a close assistant to Polking, serving as a technical analyst. He is known for his temper and frequently argues with referees. In round 22 of the 2024-2025 V-League last May, Viegas also argued with referee Le Vu Linh and hid behind the dugout, but was subsequently called out and given a yellow card.
In the Super Cup match against Nam Dinh earlier this season, Viegas acted similarly, but then fled to avoid a card. Last season, he was also suspended for round 24 after accumulating three yellow cards.
Viegas has also caused trouble for Polking while he was coaching clubs in the Thai League due to his confrontational behavior. During the first leg of the 2022 AFF Cup final, he also engaged in inappropriate behavior, arguing with organizers and journalists in the press area.
In this match, CAHN opened the scoring in the third minute with a goal by Alan. From the 41st minute, the visiting team played with a one-man advantage due to Trung Hieu's red card, and scored two more goals courtesy of Quang Hai (62’) and Artur (71’). With 4 points, CAHN climbed to second place in the V-League.
