The fight took place at 8 a.m. Sunday, 14/9, Hanoi time.
According to Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, the actual figure exceeded £100 million (over USD 128 million). Alalshikh was the driving force behind bringing this "super boxing match" to fruition, also involving UFC President Dana White in the organization and signing a global broadcasting deal with Netflix.

The Canelo-Crawford fight is the second bout in a three-fight deal Alalshikh signed with Canelo. In the first fight back in May 2025, the Mexican boxer defeated William Scull to become the undisputed super middleweight champion.
Canelo’s opponent, Terence Crawford, was only guaranteed around USD 10 million. His total earnings are estimated at around USD 11-12.5 million, including TV rights and sponsorships. This 10-fold difference reflects the disparity in commercial standing between the two fighters.

Canelo is currently one of the biggest names in world boxing, consistently ranked among the highest-earning athletes globally. With a large fan base in Mexico, Latin America, and the Mexican-American community in the US, his fights are almost always sold out. Canelo is also a guaranteed draw on pay-per-view (PPV) television, having topped the PPV sales charts for several years.
Conversely, despite being undefeated in 41 professional fights and considered one of the most technically skilled fighters of the decade, Crawford lacks comparable commercial appeal. For years, the American boxer has complained about being overlooked and not being ranked as a major ticket seller.
Therefore, Alvarez was the main attraction, while Crawford received a much smaller share of the revenue from the undisputed super middleweight title fight at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas today, 13/9.
At the press conference on 11/9, Crawford avoided discussing his earnings, instead focusing on his undefeated career and championships in three weight classes. "People keep saying I haven't faced a worthy opponent. This Saturday, everyone will see," he declared.
Canelo also affirmed the magnitude of the fight: "This is one of the biggest fights of my career. This victory will definitely be at the top of my career achievements."
Both acknowledged that the fight not only carried personal prestige but could also become a significant milestone in world boxing. Crawford emphasized, "Fights like this help boxing grow, when the best fight the best. This fight will go down in history and end all arguments."
