Mouratoglou points out Alcaraz's average of one major title for every two majors played, calling him the best young player of all time. He notes that while Bjorn Borg won 7 Grand Slams before turning 23, he wasn't as versatile as Alcaraz, having never won on hard courts. Alcaraz could become the youngest player to complete a career Grand Slam if he wins the Australian Open within the next two years.
"Just looking at the statistics, Alcaraz is on track to become the greatest tennis player ever," Mouratoglou shared on LinkedIn on 11/9. "At 22, he's ahead of even Nadal historically. He's won 6 of the last 12 Grand Slams. That's an incredible pace, and if he maintains it for several more years, he'll shatter all records."

Beyond statistics, Mouratoglou argues that even in terms of match quality, Alcaraz surpasses many legends due to his exceptional physicality, mental strength, and comprehensive skill set.
"Anything can happen. Alcaraz could get injured, or Sinner could find a way to counter him," Mouratoglou added. "But when they push each other like this, it's hard for anyone to catch up in the next 10 years. Maybe a third person will emerge, like Djokovic did. But I haven't seen any signs of that yet, and Alcaraz is on track to become the greatest ever."
In an interview at the US Open champions' ceremony last week, Alcaraz expressed his excitement about the intense rivalry with Sinner, saying it elevated both of their games.
"We're fighting for great things," Alcaraz said. "This season we split the four Grand Slams, which is crazy and exciting. We push each other to the limit. In training sessions, I focus on how to counter Sinner's shots and find solutions."
Alcaraz reclaimed the world number one ranking from his rival after his US Open victory on 9/7. He currently leads the 2025 season with a 61-6 win-loss record and seven titles.
