Da Nang's rotating bridge medal creates buzz

The medal design, featuring a 360-degree rotating bridge, ocean waves, and a golden dragon, has excited runners and heightened anticipation for the race.

"It's been a while since I ran a race with a silver medal. I hope to finish," Thanh Tai wrote on social media immediately after the VnExpress Marathon (VM) unveiled the official medal design for the 2025 Da Nang race. Many others quickly expressed their surprise and excitement, some even claiming they were "losing sleep" over the meticulous design.

The front of the medal features a raised image of the Han River Bridge, capable of rotating – a feature first introduced at the Quy Nhon race, which received positive feedback. The bridge, a symbol of both engineering and tourism in Da Nang, comes alive on the medal with its realistic rotating mechanism.

Trinh Tuan commented that Da Nang offers ample inspiration for medal design and thanked the design team for their creativity.

"The medal is so beautiful, and it rotates too," Hien Anh remarked, tagging a friend. "The most beautiful VM medal so far," Nam Cao commented.

The medal also features a raised golden dragon, 3D ocean waves, and colors representing the city lights at night. Many have described it as "a miniature Da Nang on a medal." Thanh Tran suggested, "A gold dragon, blue waves, and the addition of the colors of the road markings on the sides would be perfect."

Some who missed the previous race are determined to return for this medal. "Last time, I missed the Ha Long dragon; I'm determined to make time for the Da Nang Dragon this time," wrote Charlie MiMi Nguyen. "Do you regret it yet?" Toan Duong tagged a friend, implying they would be sorry to miss out on this medal. Thai Dinh Pham commented: "Beautiful medal, makes up for the race shirt."

For many, the medal is not just a reward for their achievement but also a symbol of their connection to the host city. "VnExpress is always the best, the medal is gorgeous, I'm so excited to wear it," commented Le Thi Thu Ha.

According to the organizers, the medal is not just an award but a milestone marking the runners' journey, their challenges overcome, and their spirit of conquest as they run past the city's iconic bridges. The design team spent months researching local characteristics to incorporate into the medal.

The VnExpress Marathon Da Nang 2025 will take place on 20/7, with four distances: 5km, 10km, half marathon, and full marathon. The route crosses iconic bridges such as the Dragon Bridge, Tran Thi Ly Bridge, Han River Bridge, and the Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa coastal route, considered one of the most scenic courses in the system. More information about the race is available here.
