European golf legends compete in Vietnam

Legends Race 1, the opening tournament of the 2025 Legends Tour, tees off in Cam Ranh on 20/9, attracting renowned players like Phil Harrison, Bill Longmuir, and Jeremy Robinson.

The tournament takes place at KN Golf Links, a coastal course in Cam Ranh within the CaraWorld township. This year's event features many familiar names in the world of golf, including Englishman Phil Harrison, known for his calm demeanor and precise putting. Scotland's Bill Longmuir, a seasoned competitor with a strong track record in major tournaments, joins him. Jeremy Robinson, a long-time European Tour player, and Gary Evans, who once ranked in the top 10 at The Open Championship, also participate. Van Phillips and Gary Murphy, both European Tour regulars, add further depth to the field.

Legends Race 1 utilizes a scramble format: Best Shot for all shots. On each hole, all four team members tee off, and the team selects the most advantageous position for their next shot, continuing this process until the ball is holed.

This format emphasizes teamwork, coordination, and strategy. According to the organizers, prizes are awarded solely for team performance, not individual scores. This approach fosters camaraderie, allowing the legends to showcase their skills while enjoying the company of their teammates and guests.

Beyond the star-studded lineup, the venue itself adds to the tournament's allure. KN Golf Links, situated along Bai Dai beach, hosts the opening round of Legends Race 1. Designed by Greg Norman, the course preserves the natural landscape with 18 traditional links-style holes combined with 9 Oasis holes, creating a diverse and challenging experience. Cam Ranh's coastal winds add an element of unpredictability to each shot, enhancing the excitement for players.

In addition to the course's quality, CaraWorld offers excellent infrastructure and services. Located less than 5 minutes from Cam Ranh International Airport, the township provides convenient access for athletes and visitors. The development also includes the Wyndham Grand Cam Ranh resort, where golfers can relax and recover after each round.

Man Tan Tinh, General Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Golf Association, sees Legends Race 1 as an opportunity to showcase CaraWorld as an all-in-one destination. "Here, visitors can experience golf, relaxation, and entertainment within a self-contained ecosystem. This is a major advantage for CaraWorld in attracting international events and high-end tourists," he said.

According to CaraWorld's investor, Legends Race 1 aims to boost the township's appeal and vibrancy. From the international-standard golf course and upscale resort to the nearly 5 km stretch of Bai Dai beach and plans for an international marina, the township is poised to become a dynamic and promising destination.

"We are proud that KN Golf Links continues to be chosen for international tournaments. By partnering with the Legends Tour, we hope CaraWorld will become a hub for sports, leisure, and entertainment experiences," a representative stated.
