In an interview with CNBC last week, Federer expressed enthusiasm for a special tour featuring retired players. He suggested a tour or exhibition matches with Nadal could be on the horizon, much to the delight of fans.
"Why not?" Federer responded when asked about reuniting with Nadal on the court. "I love Nadal, and I'm playing a lot of tennis. I played for four hours in San Francisco and 90 minutes in Los Angeles. I want to be in top shape."

Federer admitted that "senior tennis" doesn't sound appealing to him or Nadal. However, the prospect of a tour featuring two of the greatest players of all time is exciting and tempting.
Federer added, "One of the reasons I started the Laver Cup was to honor the legends. There used to be a legends tour because so many people wanted to see them play. We're definitely serious about this idea."
Federer retired after the 2022 Laver Cup, while Nadal retired last year. They have 20 and 22 Grand Slam titles, respectively, after two decades of rivalry at the top of the sport. In recent years, the pair have met frequently, discussing projects and future plans. Federer’s children even attend Nadal’s academy every summer.
Federer shared, "After retiring, it took time to sort out my schedule and everything; it wasn't easy. I like being busy, but I have to be careful not to do too much. It’s great that I'm still going to the gym four times a week. A week after retiring, I bought equipment to create a home gym. It's the first time I've had a proper gym of my own, which is strange."
Several major brands have expressed interest in organizing matches featuring Federer, Nadal, and other legends. The tour could take place in various cities worldwide, but the timing and hosting arrangements have not been disclosed. Federer recently organized the successful 2025 Laver Cup in San Francisco, California, from 19-21/9, where Team World defeated Team Europe 15-9.
