Born in Gainesville, Florida, Simmons comes from a sports-oriented family. Her father, Brian, played baseball at the University of Florida, and her great-grandfather was a player for the MLB Pittsburgh Pirates. Simmons began playing volleyball at a young age, captaining her P.K. Yonge high school team for three years and her club team for seven consecutive years. Her achievements led to her selection for the Junior A1 US national team in 2013, earning awards like the Wendy's High School Heisman and AAU All-American. She continued her career at Marshall University, where she was recognized on the C-USA Commissioner's Honour Roll and received the C-USA Academic Medal.

Simmons transitioned from professional sports to a career in social media and modeling. Despite this shift, she remains known as one of the world's most alluring volleyball stars.
