Tiger Woods was arrested on 28/3 on charges including driving while impaired, property damage, and refusing a required test. After approximately 8 hours in custody, he was released on bail by a friend, visibly fatigued.
On 2/4, the Martin County Sheriff's Office in Florida released a video documenting Woods' surprise when officers informed him of his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) of an unspecified substance.
"I believe your normal faculties are impaired," a female officer stated after asking the 50-year-old golfer to perform field sobriety tests.
"I'm being arrested?" Woods questioned before being handcuffed.
The video shows police discovering medication in Woods' pocket, which he identified as Norco. This pain reliever contains hydrocodone, a prescription opioid. The American golfer has a history of chronic back pain and has undergone multiple surgeries.

Tiger Woods appeared to doze off during the short drive to the police station in Martin County.
According to the arrest report, two pills found in Woods' pocket were marked "M367." This is a type of hydrocodone, commonly used for severe pain and classified as an opioid with a high risk of addiction. Police also noted the 50-year-old golfer's eyes were "red and droopy, pupils abnormally dilated."
Woods told officers he was looking down at his phone and adjusting the radio before his Land Rover collided with a truck and overturned. "I was looking down at my phone, and then suddenly – boom," he recounted.
The video also depicts Woods sitting in the back seat of the police car, appearing tired, yawning, hiccuping, and even falling asleep in silence during the entire 17-minute drive to the station.
Following the accident, Woods denied consuming alcohol on the day of the incident but admitted to taking "a few medications." While alcohol test results were negative, he refused a urine test. Woods later pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial.

In the recording, Woods also informed police he had just ended a call with "the President." The identity of this individual has not been confirmed, but Woods is dating Vanessa Trump, former daughter-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
A hearing is scheduled for 5/5 to assess the possibility of the case proceeding to trial.
