The couple first appeared publicly together in April at a famous ski resort in Austria. They were later seen together at the Allianz Arena during Germany's Nations League matches.
At the time, they claimed they were just skiing together, but their joint appearance at the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony at the Chatelet Theater in Paris last night seemingly confirmed their relationship.

Matthaus, born in 1961, is considered one of the best midfielders in German football history. He holds the record for most World Cup appearances by a German player (5), scoring 23 goals across those tournaments (1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998), a FIFA record at the time. He captained Germany to victory in the 1990 World Cup in Italy, winning the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year in 1990 and 1991, respectively.

Matthaus spent most of his club career with Bayern Munich, where he won seven Bundesliga titles and several other domestic honors. He also played for Inter Milan, winning Serie A in the 1988-1989 season and the UEFA Cup in 1991. Known for his powerful and intelligent playing style and his strong long-range shots, Matthaus was named in World Soccer magazine's list of the 100 greatest players of the 20th century. He is also the only player to have played in World Cups across two decades (1980s and 1990s), first as a young talent and later as a seasoned leader.
Matthaus's personal life has been marked by five marriages. His first wife, Silvia, was married to him from 1981 to 1992, and they have two children. His second wife was Swiss model and TV presenter Lolita Morena, with whom he has a son, Loris. They divorced in 1999. He then married fashion entrepreneur Marijana Colic in 2003, divorcing in 2007. In 2008, he married Ukrainian model Kristina Liliana Chudinova, 26 years his junior, after a turbulent relationship. This marriage ended in 2010 when tabloids published photos of Chudinova with a businessman in Monaco. His fifth marriage, to Russian model Anastasia Klimko, began in 2014 and produced a son, Milan. They separated in 2021 but were seen together at the 2023 Oktoberfest, fueling rumors of reconciliation until Matthaus publicly appeared with Sommer.
