Haaland immerses himself in American life

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland spends time exploring the cuisine and culture of the 2026 World Cup co-host nation.

Erling Haaland, the prolific Norwegian striker, is making the most of his time in the United States during the 2026 World Cup, delving into American culture and cuisine. Just one day after Norway's 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast in the round of 32, Haaland shared photos and videos of his visit to a cowboy store in Dallas, US, on 1/7.

One photo captured the Norwegian striker wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase, "Y'all can kiss my Dallas." This playful message mimics the idiom "Kiss my ass," a humorous expression locals often use to show pride in their city. His engagement delighted viewers, attracting numerous likes and comments on his account, which boasts 11,6 million followers. "A smart move by the greatest striker in the world in recent years. Keep it great and simple," one user commented on X.

The Norway national team is based in Greensboro, North Carolina. From there, they traveled to Foxborough, New York, and Dallas for their four matches since the tournament began. Upon arriving in the US, Haaland immediately attended a hockey league game, showcasing his interest in American sports.

On 18/6, after arriving in New York to prepare for the match against Senegal, Haaland and his girlfriend visited Katz's Delicatessen, the city's oldest Jewish deli. Following the group stage, Haaland posted a series of behind-the-scenes photos and videos, including clips of him enjoying a hamburger, a quintessential American dish, and a steak. He also shared many moments of training, playing, and celebrating victories with his team.

Norway finished second in Group I of the 2026 World Cup with six points, securing wins against Iraq (4-1) and Senegal (3-2), despite a 1-4 loss to France. After their 2-1 win over Ivory Coast, they will return to New York to face Brazil in the round of 16 on 5/7.

Haaland has scored five goals in four matches, placing him second in the Golden Boot race alongside Harry Kane, just one goal behind Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. Rodrygo, the Brazilian striker who missed the World Cup due to injury, jokingly commented on X: "You've worked hard. Take a break next Sunday." The winner of the Norway - Brazil match will advance to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the England - Mexico match.
