Hanoi Buffaloes win VBA 2025 championship

The Hanoi Buffaloes claimed their first VBA championship after defeating the Nha Trang Dolphins 95-80 in the final game on 20/9 at Khanh Hoa Arena.

Coached by Matt Van Pelt, the Hanoi team swept the final series 3-0. From the first quarter, the Buffaloes took the lead thanks to their tight defense and diverse scoring ability. Import player Tamyrik Fields and Jimmy Nguyen, who scored 10 points in the second quarter, helped the visiting team maintain their advantage.

The Nha Trang Dolphins focused on Mykal Jenkins and attempted to close the gap with three-pointers. However, their low free throw percentage and lack of decisive plays led to their defeat. This victory marks the Hanoi Buffaloes' first championship in the 10-year history of the VBA.

Khanh Hoa Arena was packed with fans, creating an electric atmosphere. Cheers, drums, and vibrant colors transformed the game into a major celebration for basketball enthusiasts.

The VBA 2025 season was sponsored by Maritime Bank (MSB). In addition to offering free tickets to customers who activated the "interest-bearing account" feature, which allows users to transfer their balance to an interest-bearing account, MSB collaborated with the organizers on various community activities.

Among these, StarXperience stands out. This is a nationwide program that provides basketball training and inspiration to young people. It organizes training classes and interactions with professional athletes, promoting physical fitness and passion for the sport. StarXpro is a series of professional matches, focused on developing professional skills.

Hoai Phuong

Founded in 2016, VBA is the first professional basketball league in Vietnam, marking an important milestone in the development of the sport within the country. Over the seasons, VBA has grown in terms of participating teams and professional quality, as well as the skill level of the athletes, creating a foundation for Vietnamese basketball to reach regional and global levels. In 2025, MSB partnered with VBA for its 10th season (VBA StarX), promoting the basketball movement and helping to make the sport an inspiration for the Vietnamese sports community.
